Minecraft Enchantment Tool
Power enchantment
Use this Power enchantment page to confirm max level 5, compatible items, conflicts, and how to plan the anvil order before Too Expensive appears.
Power
Max level
Power can be applied up to level 5. Use that cap when planning books, item combines, and final anvil cost.
Compatible items
Power works with these items in the catalog. Open an item page to start from that item and compare full builds.
Incompatible enchantments
These enchantments conflict with Power in normal survival rules.
No incompatible enchantments in the catalog.
Power planning notes
Power is the main damage enchantment for bows. It often defines whether the bow is worth keeping, so a high-level Power book should be treated as a core source rather than a filler upgrade. The Mending or Infinity decision should be made before Power is folded into the final route.
When it is worth using
Use Power on any serious bow: main combat bows, raid bows, exploration bows, and base-defense bows. It is usually the first enchantment to protect because damage is the bow's primary job.
Tradeoffs and conflicts
Power itself has no major conflict, but it can become expensive when built from many smaller books or when added after several optional bow enchantments. Do not let preference books make the damage branch unsafe.
Best pairings
- UnbreakingUnbreaking protects the bow, especially if Infinity blocks Mending.
- MendingMending supports an expensive Power bow when arrows are easy to supply.
- InfinityInfinity pairs with Power for a convenient travel bow when permanence matters less.
Example planning note
Build the Power branch cleanly, then test Flame, Punch, Mending, or Infinity around it. If Power V came from several smaller books, watch the prior work before adding the final support enchantment.
Anvil planning notes
- Add Power after checking every compatible item and conflict, especially when the build already has high prior work penalty.
- Minecraft raises anvil cost every time an item or book is worked, so balanced combine trees help keep the final step cheaper.
- Test the complete set in the workbench before spending levels in-game to reduce Too Expensive risk.
