Compatible enchantments

Crossbow can use these enchantments in the calculator. Open an enchantment page for details, then return here to compare build orders.

Recommended crossbow enchantments

A crossbow is defined by its shot behavior. Quick Charge is usually the comfort upgrade, while Multishot and Piercing are competing identities. Mending and Unbreaking protect the item, but they should be staged around the behavior choice. A clean crossbow route starts by deciding whether the weapon is for spread pressure or line penetration.

Recommended set

  • Quick ChargeUse Quick Charge as the main handling upgrade because reload speed changes the whole weapon feel.
  • MultishotUse Multishot when spread coverage is more useful than piercing through a line.
  • PiercingUse Piercing when the crossbow is meant for lined-up targets or reusable arrows.
  • UnbreakingStage Unbreaking before the final item combine so durability support is not late and expensive.
  • MendingUse Mending for a long-term crossbow, especially when fireworks or special ammo are part of the kit.

Planning priority

  1. Choose Multishot or Piercing before combining behavior books.
  2. Pair Quick Charge with durability support or with the chosen behavior book, then compare both routes.
  3. Keep special ammo plans in mind because they affect whether Multishot is worth the cost.
  4. Apply the final staged book only after the calculator confirms the side order.

Conflict warnings

  • Multishot and Piercing conflict, so the crossbow cannot be both spread and line-focused in normal rules.
  • A heavily repaired crossbow can make an otherwise simple Quick Charge route costly.

Least XP vs Least Prior Work

Least XP
Use Least XP for a utility crossbow or spare weapon where finishing cheaply matters most.
Least Prior Work
Use Least Prior Work for a main crossbow with Mending, special ammo plans, or expensive source books.

Planning notes

  • Minecraft adds prior work penalty every time an item goes through an anvil, so balanced combine trees usually cost less.
  • Conflicting enchantments cannot be applied together unless the workbench compatibility override is enabled.
  • Keep the final combine under the Too Expensive cap by testing the full set before spending levels in-game.
