Quick Charge planning guide
Quick Charge is the crossbow upgrade that affects every shot you take. It does not choose between Multishot and Piercing for you, but it makes either plan easier to use in raids, patrol fights, and repeated ranged combat. Because reload speed is central to how a crossbow feels, it should not be the last forgotten book on an already expensive item. Pick the shot style first, then stage Quick Charge with that plan. A fast crossbow still needs ammunition, distance, and reload discipline, so practice the rhythm before relying on it in a raid.
Compatible items and setup
Quick Charge belongs on a crossbow that needs faster reloads. It is the support enchantment that makes either Multishot or Piercing feel smoother, so it should be planned with the crossbow's main shot job rather than added after the build is already expensive.
Best survival use
Choose it for raid defense, repeated ranged fights, or any crossbow you expect to use as a real weapon instead of a decorative backup. The faster the reload matters to your play style, the earlier it should appear in the plan. A backup crossbow can stay simple, but a main combat crossbow should not feel slow every time danger appears.
Conflicts and tradeoffs
Quick Charge has no direct conflict in this catalog, but the crossbow still has a major conflict decision between Multishot and Piercing. Speed supports either plan; it does not decide the plan for you.
Anvil order notes
Stage Quick Charge before the final crossbow combine, usually beside Multishot or Piercing and Unbreaking or Mending. If the crossbow already has a long history, consider rebuilding before adding this core speed upgrade.
Common mistakes
- Saving Quick Charge for the end, even though reload speed is one of the main reasons to use the crossbow at all.
- Planning Quick Charge without first choosing Multishot or Piercing, which leaves the final item job unresolved.
In survival, practice reload rhythm before a raid or boss-adjacent fight. A faster crossbow helps only if you also carry ammunition, keep distance, and avoid standing exposed while loading.
Anvil planning notes
- Add Quick Charge after checking every compatible item and conflict, especially when the build already has high prior work penalty.
- Minecraft raises anvil cost every time an item or book is worked, so balanced combine trees help keep the final step cheaper.
- Test the complete set in the workbench before spending levels in-game to reduce Too Expensive risk.
