Minecraft Enchantment Tool
Density enchantment
Use this Density enchantment page to confirm max level 5, compatible items, conflicts, and how to plan the anvil order before Too Expensive appears.
Density
Max level
Density can be applied up to level 5. Use that cap when planning books, item combines, and final anvil cost.
Compatible items
Density works with these items in the catalog. Open an item page to start from that item and compare full builds.
Incompatible enchantments
These enchantments conflict with Density in normal survival rules.
Density planning guide
Density is a mace enchantment from Minecraft 1.21 and newer rulesets. Confirm your version, edition, or server before planning a mace build.
Density is the mace damage plan for players who want stronger smash attacks from fall-based hits. It competes with Breach, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods, so you should choose it before combining any expensive mace books. The choice is practical: use Density when the mace is meant to reward general smash damage, not when the whole point is armor reduction or a narrow mob-family target. Practice the timing before carrying the finished weapon into a risky fight.
Compatible items and setup
Density belongs on a mace when the weapon is planned around its damage job. It should be chosen before expensive mace books are combined because the same weapon cannot also follow every other damage plan.
Best survival use
Choose it when the mace build is meant to reward the damage pattern you are practicing and when general mace damage matters more than an armor-piercing plan. It is best on a weapon whose role is clear before rare books touch the anvil.
Conflicts and tradeoffs
Density conflicts with Breach, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods in this catalog. The tradeoff is a Density damage job instead of an armored-target Breach job or a narrower mob-family damage plan.
Anvil order notes
Choose Density before staging other mace damage books, then add Unbreaking or Mending and any compatible utility. Keep the base mace clean until the final staged book is ready and the plan has been checked.
Common mistakes
- Collecting Density and Breach books in the same plan, then only noticing the conflict after prior work has already been added.
- Ignoring durability because the mace feels like a special weapon, even though every serious combat item still needs support.
In survival, practice mace timing and fall management with a safer item before carrying the finished weapon. A high-value mace can be lost quickly if the player chases damage without a landing or escape plan.
Anvil planning notes
- Add Density after checking every compatible item and conflict, especially when the build already has high prior work penalty.
- Minecraft raises anvil cost every time an item or book is worked, so balanced combine trees help keep the final step cheaper.
- Test the complete set in the workbench before spending levels in-game to reduce Too Expensive risk.
